Body-mounted cameras

Alfred is chased by Herbert, the son of Count von Krolock.

A – Is there a change of shot between the chase in the corridor and outside gallery?

The hand-held camera allows shot continuity. The camera operator pivots from left to right and moves forward quickly to frame Herbert hanging onto the balustrade.

B - What distant following movement does the cameraman make?

The camera pans from rightward, then leftward, following the sides of the rectangle formed by the gallery. These two movements performed without a change of shot reinforce the slapstick effect of Alfred’s flight, which brings him back to his starting point and again throws him into the lion’s mouth.
