When shooting, the action was doubtless filmed in one continuous take. The shot was then cut on editing to produce eight jump cuts, each one implying an ellipsis. At the end of the shot these ellipses are not perceived as such due to the synchronism between the cuts and the different moments of the sentence spoken by Belmondo.
